Sepsis Awareness

Educate yourself and your family… know the signs of sepsis.

Our Impact

The Touch A Truck fundraiser is a family fun event with a serious purpose. Funds from this annual event are used to raise awareness and to support research at Albany Medical Center. Our goal is to educate the public on the Signs of Sepsis (SOS) by disseminating educational material. Check out our SOS card we are distributing to doctors offices and urgent care centers.

Our Programs

Our Annual Touch A Truck event is a one day family event designed to give children the opportunity to interact with the people and vehicles that protect and build our community. With tremendous support from local fire departments and businesses, we have close to 40 vehicles on site. Children are able to sit on and pretend to drive firetrucks, boom trucks, rescue vehicles, plow trucks, tow trucks and recovery vehicles, just to name a few.

Sepsis research and education

The Foundation supports research at Albany Medical Center on Sepsis, infectious diseases and the immune system. Learn more on our Sepsis page.

Queensbury High school scholarship award

The Johnathan R. Vasiliou Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to high school seniors. We were blessed to be able to share in Johnathan’s passions and watch him make mature decisions for himself and his future. We hope to honor his life by giving this award to a student like Johnathan who along with dedication to academics, enjoys extracurricular activities and clubs with enthusiasm, has a positive impact in the community and encourages others and fellow Spartans to be their very best.

holiday Toy & Cookie swap

The Foundation supports the Salvation Army Toy Drive with our annual Toy & Cookie swap. Exchange a toy for your favorite holiday cookies.

YMCA youth & Government

Johnathan and his friends were active members of the Queensbury chapter of the Youth & Government program. Each year we provide funding to assist with the costs of attending the annual State Conference.

Why We Do It

Sepsis took Johnathan’s life on August 28, 2012. What we thought was a minor tooth infection spiraled out of control. Know the signs of Sepsis - EVERY MINUTE MATTERS.
